John Mowbray
John was born about 1363 some five years before the death of his father. In 1377 on the day of the coronation of Richard II he was created Earl of Nottingham. A special clause in the charter of creation held that all his lands and tenements whereof he was then possessed should be held sub hostore comuali and as a parcel of this earldom.
He died on 10th February 1382/3 at an early age and unmarried, causing the Barony of Mowbray to devolve upon his younger brother Thomas.
